Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of the services provided by Ruth Fisher – Bit & Bridle Fitting Consultant (“we”, “us”, “our”). By booking an appointment, accessing our website, or using our services, you agree to these terms.
Please read them carefully before making a booking.


1. Services Provided

We offer the following services:

Bit fitting consultations

Bridle fitting consultations

Riding and communication support

General equestrian training guidance

Product recommendations and optional product sales

All services are delivered in person at your yard or agreed location.


2. Booking Appointments

2.1 Booking Confirmation

Appointments must be booked in advance. Confirmation will be sent via email, message, or phone.

2.2 Information Required

To provide an effective service, you agree to supply accurate information, including:

Horse details

Yard address and access instructions

Any behavioural issues, medical concerns, or recent changes

Providing incorrect or incomplete information may impact the quality of the service or lead to cancellation (see Cancellation Policy).


3. Client Responsibilities

3.1 Safe Environment

You must ensure that:

The horse is safely restrained and ready for the consultation

The yard or location is safe and accessible

There is adequate space for fitting and assessment

Dogs or other animals do not interfere with the session

Unsafe conditions may result in immediate termination of the appointment without refund.

3.2 Horse Welfare & Behaviour

You are responsible for:

Ensuring your horse is fit and well enough for the consultation

Disclosing any behavioural concerns (e.g., biting, rearing, kicking)

Ensuring appropriate supervision if the horse is young or inexperienced

If the horse is aggressive, unwell, or unsafe to handle, the service may be halted or refused.


4. Consulting Limitations

4.1 Non-Veterinary Disclaimer

We do not diagnose medical, dental, or physical conditions.
If a horse shows signs of pain, lameness, dental issues, or illness, you are advised to consult a qualified veterinarian or equine dentist.

4.2 Recommendations

All advice given is based on expertise and experience but is not a substitute for veterinary or professional medical guidance.

4.3 Performance Outcomes

While improved comfort and communication are often achieved, no specific performance results are guaranteed.


5. Payments

5.1 Fees

Service fees, travel costs, and any additional charges will be clearly stated before or during booking.

5.2 Payment Methods

Payments may be made via:

Cash

Bank transfer

Card payment (via third-party payment processor)

Full payment is required at or before the appointment unless otherwise agreed.

5.3 Payment Processing

We do not store card details. All payments are processed securely through authorised providers.


6. Cancellations, Refunds & Rescheduling

Please refer to the Refund & Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

In summary:

Cancellations made with more than 48 hours’ notice may be eligible for a refund.

Cancellations made within 48 hours are non-refundable.

No-shows are charged in full.

Travel fees are non-refundable once travel has commenced.

If we cancel, you will receive a refund or rebooking option.


7. Travel & Access

7.1 Travel Areas

Services are provided across:
Notts, Derbys, Leics, Northants, and areas surrounding Retford.

7.2 Access Requirements

You are responsible for ensuring proper access to the yard or location.
If we cannot reach the location or are denied entry, the appointment may be cancelled without refund.


8. Liability

8.1 Horse Behaviour

Horses are unpredictable animals. You acknowledge and accept that:

You remain responsible for your horse at all times

You must hold or restrain your horse unless otherwise agreed

Any injury, damage, or loss caused by your horse is your responsibility

8.2 Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, we are not liable for:

Accidents or injuries caused by the horse

Loss or damage to tack, equipment, or property

Indirect or consequential losses

Business or financial losses

Delays caused by traffic, weather, or circumstances beyond our control

Our liability is limited to the cost of the consultation fee paid.


9. Product Sales

9.1 Trial & Fit Testing

Bits or bridles tried or fitted to your horse during the consultation may show light signs of handling.
Used or trialled items may not be eligible for return unless faulty.

9.2 Faulty Items

Faulty or defective products will be replaced or refunded in accordance with UK Consumer Rights law.


10. Photography & Media

Photos or videos may be taken during consultations only with your explicit permission.
These may be used for:

Educational purposes

Case studies

Social media or promotional content

You may withdraw consent at any time.


11. Privacy

Client information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We do not share or sell personal data to third parties.


12. Changes to Terms

We may amend or update these Terms of Service at any time. The updated version will be available on the website.
Continued use of the service indicates acceptance of updated terms.


13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes will be handled in the appropriate UK courts.
